IT’S TIME TO WALK IN SONSHIP

In Galatians 4:6-7 Paul writes – So that we would know for sure that we are his true children, God released the Spirit of Sonship into our hearts – moving us to cry out immediately, “My Father! You’re our true Father!” Now we’re no longer living like slaves under the law, but we enjoy being God’s very own sons and daughters! And because we’re his, we can access everything our Father has – for we are one with Jesus the Anointed One!

The Lord woke me in the middle of the night and I was instantly wide awake. A bright light then appeared in the room and I had a vision of a group of believers. I saw that they had huge labels across their chests and on the label were the words ‘DAUGHTER OF THE KING’ or ‘SON OF THE KING’ in bold, gold writing. Each person had received the same label from Jesus and I was so excited to see the labels as I knew the people were belonged to the king of Kings.

Jesus showed me three groups of believers. The first were ones that had covered their label with layers and layers of clothing. They seemed to not comprehend the significance of the label and so had covered over it and forgotten about it. I looked at Jesus and He had a sadness in His eyes. He lovingly and gently tugged at the edges of the clothing that were covering each person’s label. As the label was uncovered it was brought to the person’s remembrance and as they looked into His face, they were receiving revelation on the meaning and importance of being a daughter or son of the King. The Lord was removing the layers of clothing or things that had clouded their understanding and I saw such joy and freedom in their faces as He did. As they received revelation of their sonship they were then walking in abundant life.

The second group knew they were given the label but they felt disqualified or unworthy to receive it. I had a sense they had ‘head’ knowledge of their sonship but not ‘heart’ knowledge. They had an orphan spirit and were insecure in the sense of the Father’s love for them. They were striving to earn the love of the Father and sonship. They thought others were worthy of such a label but they didn’t feel they were qualified. They asked Jesus if He had a small, clip on label rather than the big, bold label that was secured to their whole chest. I saw such tenderness in the eyes of Jesus when they asked Him that question. He took each one in His arms and held them. His love washed over and consumed each person He embraced. I cried as I watched the person weep in the arms of Jesus as they had a revelation of just how much they were loved by Him. In His embrace His love was unraveling their wrong mindsets, providing them with revelation and truth on what it means to be a daughter or son of the King and all that is available to them.

Jesus then smiled as He showed me the third group of believers. These people walked and moved with peace, authority, power, freedom and joy but also with a servant and humble heart. They were completely secure in the Father’s love for them and were led by the Spirit. They walked in such unity with each other and celebrated each other. They had the spirit of sonship as they knew they were accepted in Christ and they served others out of the abundance of this acceptance. They served to release people into their destiny in Christ. When I looked at the golden labels on each of them I noticed the words were ablaze and glowing! They were not just words as the words were pulsing with life and seemed to have become part of the person. Their sonship formed their identity.

The idea of spiritual adoption is presented in John 1:12 – But those who embraced him and took hold of his name were given authority to become the children of God. The Lord wants us to become mature children, and grow in our walk with Him. In Romans 8:14-15 we read – The mature children of God are only those who are moved by the impulses of the Holy Spirit. And you did not receive the “spirit of religious duty” leading you back into fear of never being good enough. But you have received the “Spirit of Full Acceptance”, enfolding you into the family of God. And you will never feel orphaned, for as he rises up within us, our spirits join him in saying the words of tender affection, “Beloved Father!” I believe the Lord is highlighting sonship at this time to ensure His people are prepared for God’s plans and purposes ahead and to break off anything that is holding them back from walking in the fullness of their kingdom inheritance. He wants us to live and breathe what it means to be a daughter or son of the King. The orphan spirit is breaking off as people are filled with the Father’s love for them in Christ so they can then experience the abundant life that our heavenly Father gives. As we abide in Him and yield to Him, we are conformed into the image of Jesus and are witnesses unto Him. The entire universe waits with excitement, yearning to see the unveiling of God’s glorious sons and daughters! (Romans 8:19). More than ever, now is the time to awaken to our position as co-heirs with Christ and to see sonship is the basis of our true identity. Allow the Lord to minister to your heart and fill you with His love and acceptance. Take your position as sons and daughters of the King and walk in peace, authority, power, freedom and joy as you are led by the Spirit and are secure in the Father’s love.
