FEAR LESS

I was driving in the car one night this week and I was praying and asking the Lord to speak to me. A few minutes later as I was driving under an overpass on the highway the neon, large banner advertisement on the overpass above me changed from showing it’s normal advertisement to reading ‘FEAR LESS’ in large neon writing. I knew this was a message from the Lord. The advertisement banner was around 15metres long and 3metres tall so this message could not be missed!

I believe the Lord wants us to know that He is breaking fear off the lives of His people at this time. He wants us to come to a place of trusting in Him in every area of our lives. When we surrender all to Him and rest in Him and His perfect timing, we no longer have doubts or fears and we are not disturbed by our circumstances. People have many different kinds of fears including fear of failure, fear they have missed what God has planned for their life, fear they have missed out on seeing the promises of God fulfilled in their life, fear of their past, fear of what others think of them etc. In order to rest in the Lord we need to have an intimate relationship with God and understand the character of God. We will then be confident to leave our fears and worries at His feet, knowing He cares for us and is working all things for our good.

When we know the Lord is with us and upholding us, we can navigate the trials that may come against us as we know the Lord will strengthen us. Isaiah 41:10 says ‘Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous hand.’ Joshua 1:9 says ‘…Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.’ Jesus is our fortress and our strength and strengthens us in our weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 says ‘But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.’ Jesus is there to fight our battles for us if we would surrender them to Him. Isaiah 54:17 says, ‘No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall confute every tongue that rises against you in judgement. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.”

We have been given the keys to combat fear. When we know the Lord loves us and wants the best for us we can lean on Him, our beloved. 2 Timothy 1:7 says For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. 1 John 4:18 says ‘There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.’

We have been given authority over the powers of darkness. Greater is the one who lives is us than the one that is in the world (1 John 4:4). When we know this we can walk in boldness and authority. Luke 10:19 says ‘Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.’

When we have fears, we can leave them with the Lord. Cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). We can walk each day in confidence, knowing He is directing our steps and the path before us. We can walk in peace as Jesus won the victory for us. We are co-heirs with Christ and are co-seated with Him in heavenly places therefore we are overcomers. John 16:33 says ‘I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.’ John 14:27 says ‘Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.’

The Lord is asking you to come to Him and leave your fears and troubles at His feet so you can walk in true freedom. Psalm 34:4 says ‘I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.’ Allow the Holy Spirit to highlight to you any fears you may have and any area you need to surrender over to Him so you may walk in the fullness of life that He offers.
