As we speak God’s word He is bringing life to that which was dead
The Lord has been speaking to me this week about the power of the breath of God and the power of our spoken words. I have heard the Lord say, “I am breathing life into things that you thought were dead. Do you not know that my breath brings life and restoration?” The Lord has been confirming this word to me as I have found my spirit singing the line of a song over and over. The line of the song is ‘things that you thought were dead are breathing in life again’.
When I received this word the Lord gave me two scriptures that highlighted His message. Firstly He brought John 11:11 before me – Then He said, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but now I will go and wake him up.” In John 11 we read that Lazarus is dead but Jesus goes to his tomb and brings him to life after shouting, “Lazarus come out!” We see that as Jesus spoke, life was restored. I believe the Lord brought this scripture to me as He is saying that He is bringing to life those things that were dead.
Secondly, the Lord highlighted Ezekiel 37:1-14 to me where we read of the valley of the dry bones coming to life. In verse 4-5 we read – Then He said to me, “Speak a prophetic message to these bones and say- Dry bones, listen to the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Look! I am going to put breath into you and make you live again!” We then read that the bones formed into complete skeletons and muscles; flesh and skin formed over the bones as Ezekiel spoke out the message he had received. In verse 9-10 we read – Then He said to me, “Speak a prophetic message and say- This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, O breath, from the four winds! Breathe into these dead bodies so that they may live again.” We then read that as Ezekiel spoke out the message he was given breath came into the bodies. I believe the Lord brought this scripture to me as He is saying that as we speak out the word we have been given by the Lord, we will see the Lord bring to life that which was dead.
There is supernatural power given to us to speak and proclaim God’s Word over our lives and our circumstances. When we do this we see things change and become aligned with His Word. As we speak the Word of God in faith we see all kinds of obstacles and opposition will begin to be broken. Jesus said, “The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life” (John 6:63). Hebrews 4:12 affirms this: ‘The word of God is alive and powerful.’ God’s words bring life, as did Jesus’ spoken words to dead Lazarus. God can bring the dead back to life and create things out of nothing (Romans 4:17). An example of this is when God spoke things into existence during the creation week. God’s word will accomplish His desires and purposes. Isaiah 55:11 – ‘It is the same with My word, I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.’ The Lord wants us to be intentional about the words we speak and realise the power of our words. Proverbs 18:21 – ‘The tongue can bring death or life.’ The Lord is inviting you to ‘speak out’ His word and prophesy over your circumstances or area that seems dead and see it transformed and restored to life. Things that you thought were dead will breathe in life again!
